Riwaj Pokharel

Resident Physiotherapist

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by movement and the way the body heals through exercise and rehabilitation. Growing up in Nepal, I was always active in sports, especially football, which most people here know as soccer. It was through these experiences that I first discovered how physiotherapists could play such a key role in recovery and in helping people return to the activities they love. That inspiration eventually led me to pursue my Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2016.

During my training, I had the privilege of serving some of the most underserved communities in rural Nepal. Those experiences shaped me not only as a clinician but also as a person, as I witnessed firsthand how access to rehabilitation can make such a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After completing my studies, I briefly worked in neurological rehabilitation before moving into orthopedics, where I had the opportunity to work alongside one of Nepal’s pioneering orthopedic surgeon teams. This gave me valuable exposure to post-surgical rehab and complex musculoskeletal conditions, further strengthening my passion for helping people restore their mobility and confidence.

In 2024, I moved to Canada in pursuit of new opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. I am excited to bring my skills, experiences, and passion for physiotherapy to this community, while continuing to learn and expand my practice in a new environment.

I believe in taking an active and holistic approach to physiotherapy, combining exercise and functional training with hands-on techniques. As a spiritual person, I believe strongly in treating people rather than just their disease. My goal is to work with clients as a team, guiding them through their recovery, celebrating their progress, and empowering them to see what their bodies are truly capable of.

Outside of the clinic, I love staying active and keeping football as part of my life. I also enjoy listening to both classic and modern rock music, reading books, and spending quiet time walking. In my free time, you can often find me watching movies to unwind, learning something new, or simply enjoying nature.
