Herbal Medicine
A tree in a garden benefits from both its roots and its branches being tended to. Similarly, good health should involve treating the root cause of the problem and as well as its symptoms. As a Herbalist, Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist, Jaime Tattrie uses natural remedies in her approach to treating the underlying causes of many health conditions.
Herbal medicine uses the natural disease and infection fighting properties of plants to treat many acute (new and/or intense) or chronic (long-lasting) conditions. Often, many conditions that are poorly supported by medical interventions respond best to herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is another way for you to take control of your own health and wellness and allow your body to come back to a natural form of balance.
Forms of Herbal Medicine
Herbal Teas
The antioxidants and vitamins in herbal teas have properties that fight illness and infections. The teas prescribed during herbal medicine assessments are specifically mixed to create a blend that is unique to treat each individual condition. Treatment from heart burn to improving the condition of kidney function are all common uses of herbal tea blends.
Tinctures and Flower Essences
Tinctures and flower essences are created by steeping (soaking) specific herbs or flowers in alcohol to extract their powerful, healing properties. These easy to consume medicines are highly concentrated so only a little is needed. These tinctures can be mixed for the specific conditions that require treatment. Blends of herbs can be formulated in order to be more specific to individual health issues.
Herbal Salves
Salves are often used soothing agents and are especially helpful in relieving sunburn, diaper rash, chronic itching and reducing pain and inflammation. Other herbal salves can be used in the treatment of yeast infections and other types of topical irritations.
