Dr. Erin Cougle

Chiropractor, Acupuncture Provider

My passion for healthy ageing was sparked by my job as an exercise therapist with the Victorian Order of Nurses. During this time, I was working with some amazing clients who had arthritis or were recovering from complications from a stroke, fall or even from hip or knee replacements. I had the pleasure of leading exercise classes and doing rehabilitation exercises with these clients and found the impact of the work very fulfilling.

That was the first step that led me to where I am today. Now, I teach my patients every day about the many strategies used to relieve pain and improve movement and daily function. As we age there is the misconception that conditions, like osteoarthritis and pain, are “just part of the ageing process.”  However, that’s not true! There are so many hands-on therapies and at-home solutions that truly allow you to thrive as you age.

My training has focussed on various forms of arthritis, particularly in the knee and hip (commonly osteoarthritis) and the spine (spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease).  I have continued to expand my professional toolbox, by taking additional training in acupuncture, taping, bracing, and many hands-on techniques. All of which I include in my patient’s treatment plans as indicated to get the best possible results.

While I’m not originally from Peterborough, it was Thrive Heath Ptbo’s well-rounded, caring and collaborative team that brought me to town. I knew that this was the type of team that I wanted to be a part of. I left my home in Oshawa and moved with my husband Nathan and our dog Maggie to our new home in Campbellford/Trent Hills.  The community has been a great fit as I love playing softball, camping and hiking. I can also play a mean game of Euchre and I’m often working on a crochet project.

I’m grateful that I love what I do and that I’m able to make a positive impact on our community. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my patients spring up the stairs, walk without support, or get down on the floor to play with their grandkids again. If you’re struggling with your health, remember every year is an opportunity to thrive and I hope I can help you move better, feel better, and live all of your life being active and doing all you love to do.
