Sarah and BradOur Story

Hi!

We are Brad and Sarah Wild, the co-owners of Thrive Health Ptbo.  This venture has been in our thoughts, dreams and many conversations over our years together and we absolutely love our work and our team at Thrive.

We met in Chiropractic College and then made the move back to our families and our forever home in Peterborough. We have built lasting relationships in our community and grown our family with the addition of our daughter, Hannah, our son, Ben, and of course the family dog, Lexi.

We are so fortunate to love our jobs and the positive impact we make in the lives of our patients every day, but we also have a bigger vision for our community. Over the years, we have seen patients fall through the cracks in our current health system because they have not had the right information and right interventions from the right professional. We all have unique expertise, but no ONE professional has all the answers.

Through Thrive Health Ptbo, we have been able to develop a cohesive, professional team who works together to help our patients recover from pain and injury, and optimize their overall health and performance. We have brought together expert health professionals who are passionate about improving health, naturally.

Through our own family, we know how important it is to encourage healthy habits early. This is why we love treating kids, because hopefully we can positively influence the way they grow into adulthood.

We know this for certain: when people take care of their health and feel good every day, they make better choices, are better role models, have more patience, are more considerate, and more productive.

We believe that this is how we can make a positive change in our community and the future of our world.

We hope that you find our space fun, friendly, warm and most importantly, empowering. We are excited to work with you and help you overcome those obstacles getting in the way of really living your life!

Yours in health,

Dr. Brad Wild  & Dr. Sarah Wild

Growing up, I knew nothing about Chiropractic or the concept of natural health and wellness. Like most people, I sought medical advice for illness, injury and pain; and as an elite athlete I had my fair share of injuries! I was first exposed to Chiropractic as part of a Co-op program while I was at the University of Windsor completing my Degree in Human Kinetics. It was during this experience that I first saw how Chiropractic was helping so many people achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The concept of working to improve health and being pro-active to prevent issues naturally was in such contrast to the concept of healthcare I grew up with, and I decided that I wanted to be part of that change in people’s quality of life.

My initial goal of sports management and working for a sports team quickly changed and I spent the next few years working in five different chiropractic offices to learn as much as I could about the profession.  I completed my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2012, and have advanced my training with coursework in pediatrics, youth athletic care, postural correction, and disc herniation resolution.

I love working with people of all ages. Whether it is an infant’s first adjustment after birth; enhancing performance goals with a competitive athlete; or helping an older adult maintain an active lifestyle by improving their balance and gait, I truly believe Chiropractic care can be an asset to all individuals. I really enjoy working with whole families, especially children. In today’s day and age, we get bombarded by mixed health messages and unhealthy behaviours. I believe that the ultimate preventative care is teaching our younger generations about all aspects of living a healthy lifestyle so that they can reach their milestones and grow into adults who can lead the future!

I am excited to be back home in Peterborough with my beautiful wife, Dr. Sarah Wild, my busy and fun-loving children, Hannah and Ben, and my spoiled Bernese Mountain Dog, Lexi. I am also truly fortunate to have two sets of amazing grandparents in the city, as I value our family time very much. My hobbies have changed slightly with the addition of my children…traditionally I love running, camping, and going to the gym, and in my spare time in the summer you can find me at the Riverside Ball Diamonds. However, I am currently being trained on how to dance, play with doll babies, and construct pig-tails on a moving target!  Life is all about learning new things:)

My goal during our appointments is that you leave feeling listened to, cared for, and encouraged. I will focus on your goals and give you the opportunity to think about your health, lifestyle, and future as a bigger picture.

I discovered chiropractic when I found relief for my chronic headaches after many years of trying different medications and therapies. Having been a patient myself, I can attest to how life changing chiropractic treatment can be.

Prior to my chiropractic education, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy with Distinction at the University of Alberta. As an Occupational Therapist, I practiced in Calgary, Alberta; Miami, Florida; and Toronto, Ontario; working in a variety of areas including ergonomic assessment, outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, and long term care. I then completed my chiropractic degree, graduating Cum Laude and with Clinic Honours from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. I love to learn and strongly believe in continuous education and training to keep up-to-date with the best treatment methods available.

While I enjoy treating people of all ages and a variety of conditions, I have advanced training in pregnancy and post-pregnancy related conditions, pediatrics, as well as headache relief.

I settled in Peterborough to be close to my family and I am so happy to call this wonderful community home. When I moved to Northern Manitoba from South Africa at 15 years old (+40C to -38C!), I had never heard of Peterborough! My education and career took me from Alberta to Florida and finally to Ontario, where I met my husband who was born and raised in Peterborough. My own family had moved to the Kawarthas just a few years earlier and so this city has been a perfect fit. My little girl, Hannah, was born in November, 2015, and I have been able to appreciate how important good health care and a great support system are. The resources in Peterborough for new families are outstanding, and I am so happy to be contributing to them.

I am privileged to work with new families and hope that I positively influence the decisions they make about their personal health and the health of their young ones, so that the next generation of children have a vision of health and wellness that is beyond what we currently have.

Away from the clinic, I enjoy going to Crossfit Ptbo  and hot yoga and trying new recipes. I also run a Fitness for Moms class where I teach moms how to return to exercise safely after birth, and catch up on some baby snuggles!

Since my daughter, Hannah, and son, Benjamin, joined our family, I have been able to appreciate how important good health care and a great support system are.

I hope that during our appointments you feel as if you receive fantastic care, and that you leave feeling better and inspired to live well. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning how we can work together to achieve your personal health goals.

I am thrilled to be part of the amazing team at Thrive Health Ptbo. I feel honoured and humbled to be able to partner with you in your pursuit of health and wellness.

Being a chiropractor, my main focus is helping you achieve pain-free and optimal movement and more of it! I am also happy to discuss topics such as nutrition, sleep, stress management, ergonomics, exercise and anything related to your health and overall well-being.

I began my health and wellness journey as a personal trainer, assisting a number of individuals to reach their health goals. Pursuing further knowledge lead me to explore healthcare professions. As such, I attended and graduated, with Distinction, from the University of Western Ontario, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Major in Kinesiology. I went on to complete the four year, post graduate Doctor of Chiropractic program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where I graduated “Magna Cum Laude” (with great honour). I have since taken courses to advance my knowledge in Kinesiology taping and am certified to provide acupuncture services. The more I learn, the more I realize how much I have yet to learn. I will continue to be a life-long learner who pursues higher knowledge that will benefit the wellbeing of my patients and loved ones.

Over the past 10 years in addition to my schooling endeavours, I have also trained for a marathon, dabbled with mountain biking, and yoga, taught fitness classes and joined a softball team. Before I pursued healthcare as a profession, I was very involved with horses – specifically reining horses. I have also enjoyed participating in different equine therapy programs which help to engage individuals with physical, behavioural and developmental challenges.

More important than any of my schooling or sporting endeavours, I have been most impacted by my journey into motherhood. My daughter Hazel was born on Christmas Day 2016 and has since been my bright, shiny star. As any new mom can understand; carrying, delivering, caring for and raising a child from conception on is a privilege with many challenges. There are so many resources available to us now but these can at times be overwhelming. It is my deepest desire to support, educate and empower women to make choices for themselves and their families that will help everyone enjoy a healthy, happy and balanced existence.
I was always amazed by the human body and its complexity and resilience so a career in chiropractic seemed like a natural fit. I love that it is a safe, effective, non-invasive therapy that can both treat and prevent a wide variety of conditions and can be adapted for all ages. Inspired by my own experience, I have a special interest in pre/post-natal care and advanced training in pediatric care. I am certified in Pediatric Intraoral Palate Specific (PIPS) Technique which can be helpful for infants with tongue tie or difficulty latching. I also have had success in managing patients with sports and over-use injuries as well as postural strain and degenerative conditions.

In general, people and especially parents are really good at feeling guilty about… well anything. So I hope that you always feel that our appointments are a safe and judgment-free zone and you leave feeling supported and encouraged with action plans and assurance that you are on the right track.
If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. No complaint is too big or too small and if I can’t help you, I will connect you with someone who can. I understand that we are each unique individuals with unique desires, limitations and challenges. There is no cookie-cutter approach. My goal is to listen to, educate, support and motivate you so that you can define and achieve a fulfilled, authentic life that is meaningful for YOU and your family.

I am very excited to be part of the great team at Thrive Health Ptbo!
My priority is to ensure that your treatment plan is tailored just for you, for your life, and your goals, whether your priorities are a new or long-lasting injury, rehabilitation, or overall health. As every person needs a unique approach, I have completed advanced training in a variety of treatment strategies including spinal and extremity manipulations/mobilizations, myofascial release, functional acupuncture, rehabilitative taping techniques, laser therapy, as well as rehabilitation exercises and education.

I love to learn and I look forward to constantly enhancing my knowledge to support my patients in achieving their health and wellness goals.

Before graduating from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, I entered a bridging program between the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and CMCC. This allowed me to complete both my Bachelor of Health Science with a Specialization in Kinesiology with Distinction, and my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 7 years, instead of 8. While completing my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, I also became certified in Functional Integrated Acupuncture (I really like learning!!)

While I enjoy working with all people, I have a passion for supporting healthy aging. This was sparked while working with the Victorian Order of Nurses as an exercise therapist and entailed performing rehabilitation exercises for clients with osteoarthritis, post-stroke complications, complications after falls, hip/knee replacements and many more conditions.

In my spare time I enjoy camping, hiking, and playing many different sports such as softball, rugby, and field hockey. I also enjoy baking, spending time with my family and my two dogs. I am excited to be part of the Peterborough community and start some new activities in my new home.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your health goals!

Dr. Tyler Stinnissen Chiropractor, Acupuncture Provider

What I love about my profession is that I can help so many people with a huge variety of conditions improve the quality of their every day life. A particular passion of mine is clinical neuroscience, which is foundational in helping patients with concussions, dizziness/vertigo, headaches and migraines, and anything ‘weird’!   Often these patients have been looking for the right answers for a long time before they come to me and it is so rewarding to finally be able to relieve them of these symptoms and watch them get back to thriving in life again.

Having grown up in Peterborough, I am excited to be back, plant my own roots, and serve the community I know so well.  I went to Adam Scott CVI (Go Lions!) and then completed my Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. I went on to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and throughout my schooling I took additional certifications in acupuncture, chiropractic manipulation, athletic taping, and muscle release techniques. I am working towards my Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB).  I have a passion for learning so that I can help any patient that walks through the door!

When I’m not in the clinic you can find me at Crossfit PTBO, exploring a new hiking trail, on a golf course or playing a card game. I am always looking for a new course to try or card game to play, so if you have any recommendations, let me know! I also enjoy surprising everyone with my fun socks😉

It is an honour and a privilege to help patients everyday. Each treatment plan is individualized to your needs, goals, and expectations while being backed by my experience, training, and research. I look forward to showing you what you can achieve with the right health team at your back and helping you exceed what you thought was possible!

J TattrieJaime Tattrie Registered Acupuncturist, Registered Massage Therapist

Hi, it is great to meet you! I am a TCM Registered Acupuncturist, Registered Massage Therapist, and a Social Worker. I am very excited to be part of the team at Thrive Health Ptbo. I am originally from Newfoundland and moved to Ontario about 20 years ago. I have always had a passion for helping others as it is a part of my east coast culture. My passion for physical, mental and emotional health led me to complete a Bachelor of Arts Social Work Degree, and through this I was able to work with many individuals facing addictions, physical and mental health concerns. This led me to think of other ways to treat individuals in order to increase the intensity of the healing process for them. I am a firm believer in starting from the root of a problem which prevents and can correct disease without being dependent on medications and high levels of supplementation. This passion led me to complete my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is all about dealing with issues from the root up. I am a highly motivated and hardworking individual and I am eager to help you achieve your goals physically, emotionally and energetically. For recharging in my life, it is important for me to spend time with my children, family and good friends. I like to garden and grow lots of vegetables that we enjoy as a family and that I like to give away to others. I also love to sing and play music. There is nothing like fishing which I especially love to do when I visit my family in Newfoundland. I am looking forward to helping you accomplish your health and wellness goals.

Leah_HoskinLeah Hoskin Registered Massage Therapist

Hi there! I’m Leah, a Registered Massage Therapist at Thrive Health Ptbo. My love of helping people lead me to the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, and after two years of intense study, I graduated in 2017. Later that year my fiancée and I moved to Peterborough and I joined the Thrive Health Ptbo team in February of 2018.

I love learning and massage is a great fit for that, there is always something new to learn! I have developed a special interest in treating headaches, thoracic outlet syndrome and prenatal care. I strive to personalize my treatments to each client in order to help them live their best, most fulfilling life.

I believe that hobbies are an important part of a balanced life. When I’m not in the clinic I can be found out in the barn, the garden, or in my crafting studio. I love creating things, whether it be a pair of knitted mittens or a home cooked meal made from food grown in my garden. I love hearing about people’s hobbies and how I can help them get back to enjoying them pain free.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your health goals!

ChristinaChristina Downey Registered Massage Therapist

Hi!  I’m Christina and I find so much joy in my practice of Registered Massage Therapy.  I am a graduate of the highly regarded Compressed Massage Therapy Program at Fleming College which has stimulated a love of learning different techniques which can enhance each of my appointments. I trained in Swedish Massage and incorporate many myofascial techniques in my practice.

My focus is on you, where you are and what you need, and supporting you in the best way possible in your personal journey. I have also completed my Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, which I did while pregnant with second child. Having come to Yoga through a meditation practice, I find it easy to offer my clients a safe space, encouraging breathwork and finding space in the body with homecare recommendations.

I have a strong connection to the Millbrook community, having lived here 13 years. I have 2 children, who fondly support my love of Sourdough baking, crocheting and kitchen dance parties.

Come as you are, Change the way you feel.
